Caroline Records to Re-issue Exodus Major Label releases

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Flyposter U.S. correspondent, Michael Butler (me) is on the Force of Habit CD.

Getting these up on the Podsafe Music Network may take a lot of work, since Capitol Records still owns publishing for these.

Back Catalog has been my holy grail, as the U.S. guy in charge of artist relations on the PMN.It seems like a no brainer for labels to put some old tracks up to drum up interest in these forgotten classics.

Here is the official Caroline Press Release:

EXODUS Thrash Classics “Impact Is Imminent” & “Force Of Habit” Back In Print!

Caroline Records is proud to announce the March11th release of two classic remastered Exodus albums as limited edition Japanese-style mini-vinyl CDs, offering a scaled down replica of the original vinyl release in CD format, complete with inner sleeves! Both albums will be available digitally as well.Arguably the first American Thrash band (Metallica’s Kirk Hammet was a founding member), Exodus came from the Bay Area scene that created Metallica, Megadeth, Death Angel, Testament and Vio-lence. Exodus jumped from Combat Records to Capitol in the early 90’s, supporting these releases on tours with Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Megadeth. Both albums have been out of print for over ten years and command high prices on the secondary market.

Barbara Luna Loves Michael Butler

Friday, February 29th, 2008

During the Wondercon comic book nerdfest, Brian and I met Barbara Luna from Star Trek.  We got into a conversation about the Canadian rock band Rush and I “whipped out” my rock and roll geek knowledge and started singing the chorus to The Temples of  Syrinx. As you can see by the way she grabbed her boobs, I think we made a love connection.

Michael Butler Biography

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Michael Butler is a musician and podcaster from San Francisco, California, United States.
He is well-known for his popular podcast, The Rock and Roll Geek Show, one of the earlier podcasts and a featured program on ‘Podshow’, a Podcasting start-up and Butler’s employer since late 2005. Butler is one of the first ‘hobby’ Podcasters to produce material that was sufficiently popular and of a high enough quality to allow him to make a living from it [1] after having worked as a self-employed house painter for many years. Butler plays bass guitar and performs vocals with his own band, American Heartbreak. He also previously played bass in the thrash metal band Exodus.
Butler’s daughter, Martina Butler started a podcast in August of 2005 entitled “Emo Girl Talk.

Team USA Bios

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Michael and Brian here. Just to let you know that we are in the middle of writing our bios for the blog. Obviously it’ll be short as we haven’t done anything interesting apart from drop out of Junior High and with that being quite some time ago there could be quite a bit of white space.

Brian says we should flesh it out with GNR Lies, but I’m thinking that would just give you guys an appetite for destruction. So, like I said, don’t expect much from a pair of drop outs like us…
